there was a keyboard once, a great rectangular cream colored 80s casio with rich sounds and punchy beats, in the mixed electronics section of a local goodwill, over which i fantasized non-stop from the moment of first sight. they wanted some outrageous amount for it, but i knew in my heart the keyboard was destined to become the nucleus around which a synthpop band i'd been wanting start could coalesce. too expensive to afford and too big to steal. a detached price tag on the floor with a better price read : "bassonette : $15.95". a keyboard is not a bassonette, but i pocketed the tag nonetheless and went home to scheme. bassonette....bass one tte........sounds like the kind of name an 80s keyboard might have. so i made a sticker reading "BASS ONE TTE-FX" in crappy sci-fi font and affixed it to the keyboard. that was that.
